It’s over between Jumbo and speed delivery company Gorillas

The cooperation between the Veghel supermarket chain Jumbo and flash delivery company Gorillas has come to an end. Less than a year and a half after the two teamed up, the ship foundered. One of the reasons for this is the takeover of Gorillas by Turkish industry partner Getir. They think it is a logical moment to end the collaboration.

“We want to be there for our customers always and everywhere. In that light, we have learned a lot from this collaboration with Gorillas”, reports Jumbo CEO Ton van Veen. He calls the transition from Gorillas to Getir a logical moment to step out of the boat and take stock.

Getir
Flash delivery company Getir invested in its own distribution center last year. As a result, they are more economical with deliveries to their so-called dark stores: the shops from which the deliverers bring your groceries. That is why it would also make sense for Getir to end the collaboration.

Jumbo
Jumbo indicates that it now wants to focus mainly on its own company. “We are now working on less complexity,” the supermarket writes. They will concentrate on surprising customers through the stores, the website and the app.
