Gerard Joling notices that his humor is less and less accepted in the mainstream media. Will he put on the handbrake tonight when he takes a seat on the barstool of Today Inside?
For years people had to laugh out loud at Gerard Joling’s politically incorrect jokes, but there seems to be less and less room for his humor in the mainstream media. For example, two weeks ago he was reprimanded in Eva Jinek’s talk show when he made a joke about Angela de Jong’s weight.
Gerard rejected
Gerard’s humor is increasingly being rejected, TV director Bert van der Veer notes. “He is invited and then reprimanded. Like about Sigrid Kaag. ‘A witch.’ Humberto didn’t think it was appropriate,” he writes on his opinion channel.
And recently at Eva Jinek, Gerard was punished again. “Recently, the opinionated folk singer spoke out about the swimsuit affair with Countess Eloise. ‘Well, I’d rather see her in a bathing suit than Angela de Jong!’ Eva Jinek left the reaction to Antoinnette Scheulderman. ‘body shaming’.”
Handbrake on?
Gerard has his next talk show appearance on the menu tonight, namely in Today Inside, where Mark Rutte will join for the second time. “Mark Rutte said it himself: he thought it would be fun with Gerard Joling at the bar. Unguided missile Gerard is a guest and something always happens. If he has no text for a while, he burps.”
But does the loose cannon in Gerard slowly die after all those TV beatings? “Dilemma for Gerard: will he hold back (as a VVD member and a Rutte fan) or will he strike? A clue: the dildo helmet. ‘It is not possible with the Prime Minister. There are borders.'”
He concludes: “It could just be disappointing at Today Inside.”
