Spinvis has won the Lennaert Nijgh Prize for best lyricist.
The singer and musician will receive the prize on Monday evening during the presentation of the Buma Awards in the Royal Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam.
Buma Culture director Frank Helmink thinks Spinvis is a justified winner. “With his use of language, Spinvis is able to create a world with words that is both recognizable and mysterious. He juggles words and sentences, with the aim of taking the listener on a wonderful journey.”
Buma Awards
During the Buma Awards, composers, lyricists and their music publishers are honored in various categories. It was previously announced that the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Herman van Veen and that DJ Paul Elstak will receive the Golden Harp.
