Walkthrough perfect
SV Elversberg does not see promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga as a flash in the pan and is striving for further highlights. “Of course, the 2nd division will be a completely different house number with major challenges. But we don’t just see it as a pure adventure, we will try with our means to stay and establish ourselves there,” said President Dominik Holzer of the “German Press Agency”.

The Saarlanders can no longer be pushed out of one of the two promotion places in the 3rd division before the 38th matchday. With fewer than 15,000 inhabitants, the municipality of Spiesen-Elversberg will be the smallest location in the top two German leagues. However, President Holzer and his team were themselves surprised by the progression from the regional league to the second division.
“Our strategy always envisaged that we see an opportunity to create a second division team at this location. Of course, at the speed at which it became real, the challenge hasn’t exactly diminished,” says Holzer. Before the current season, the goal was to stay in the 3rd division.
