The 37-year-old Sneijder joined on Tuesday evening RTL for a possible position at the Amsterdam club. “I wouldn’t want to do it on my own, but maybe I can do something as a signboard,” says Sneijder.
Overmars has been away from Ajax as director of football affairs since the beginning of last week after it became clear that he was guilty of transgressive behavior within the Amsterdam club. “I was not immediately polled, but I am open to it,” says Sneijder. “But I must have someone next to me who can help me with the business.”
The former midfielder of the Amsterdam club thinks he eventually wants to go technical after all, having previously shed light on the coaching profession and on the side of player guidance. “I tend to think that’s the direction I want to go.”
