Frodo will probably not appear in the new Amazon series – his devilish opponent probably will.
The Lord of the Rings animated film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will premiere in US cinemas on April 12, 2024. The start date in Germany has not yet been determined. The film is being produced by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.
“The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” is dedicated to the history of the fortress Helm’s Deep, which was named after Helm Hammerband. He ruled the kingdom of Rohan as the ninth king about two hundred years before Frodo and Bilbo’s adventures. Helm’s Deep is at the center of a great siege in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Gimli also uses a horn that once belonged to Helm Hammerband.
The film is directed by anime director Kenji Kamiyama. He also shot Blade Runner: Black Lotus and Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society. In addition, some contributors from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy are involved in the production. Screenwriter Philippa Boyens, illustrator John Howe, artistic director Alan Lee and special effects artist Richard Taylor.

Meanwhile, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a series set in the Lord of the Rings universe, will be released in September 2022. It is intended to bring together all the important stories of the second age of Middle-earth. From the forging of the rings and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron to the legend of Númenor and the last alliance of elves and humans.
