From the Ghent Altarpiece over Our Cookbook to Rock Werchter: Flemish Canon is ready and counts at least 300 pages
It took almost three years to complete, but it’s finally here: the Canon of Flanders. Proposed in the 2019 Flemish coalition agreement as “a list of anchor points from our Flemish culture, history and sciences”. This list resulted in a voluminous book of more than 300 pages and includes an overview of the Flemish language, culture and history from 12,000 years ago, at the end of the last ice age, to today. The Canon of Flanders was presented in Genk on Tuesday in the presence of Flemish Minister of Education Ben Weyts (N-VA) and Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Jan Jambon (N-VA).
