Report: RB Leipzig wanted BVB youngsters

For a long time, Luca Unbehaun from Borussia Dortmund was said to have what it takes to become one of the greats of the German goalkeeper guard, but at the age of 22 the Bochum native is still waiting for his professional debut, at BVB he is no longer a player in the second team. The result: Unbehaun will probably leave the black and yellow. Finding a new club will obviously not be a problem.

After seven years at BVB, Luca Unbehaun will probably leave Dortmund. The goalkeeper’s contract ends after the current season, according to “Bild” the talent has agreed with BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl to look for a new challenge in order to finally get match practice. There shouldn’t be a lack of interested parties.

According to “Bild”, several clubs from the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd League have their eyes on the former German junior international. And Unbehaun is also said to be very popular abroad. The report specifically names Dutch top club PSV Eindhoven and HJK Helsinki from Finland as possible new legal-footed employers.

RB Leipzig wants to sign ex-talent from FC Bayern

If you believe the newspaper, Unbehaun could have continued his career in the German football upper house: RB Leipzig, it is said, showed great interest in the young goalkeeper. In Saxony, Unbehaun would only have been number three behind Péter Gulácsi and Janis Blaswich. In the long term, he is said to have been expected to be number two, but the path to the hoped-for match practice would have been a long one.

In the meantime, the “bulls” are said to have found a new number three. According to the “kicker”, Leopold Zingerle is about to move from SC Paderborn to Leipzig. The 29-year-old comes from the youth team at FC Bayern. After engagements at SpVgg Greuther Fürth and FC Magdeburg, he joined Ostwestfalen in 2017. In 2022/23 Zingerle lost his regular place to Jannik Huth.
