12 clubs owned
The City Football Group around flagship Manchester City has added another club to its portfolio with the Brazilian first division club EC Bahia. Bahia announced on Thursday that the holding company has taken over 90 percent of the shares in the club. The promoted team, who have picked up three points from their opening games in the new season of Serie A and are 16th just above the relegation zone, are the 12th club to be owned by the Abu Dhabi-based holding company.
From England to Australia, these clubs are part of the City Football Group
“I’m honored to welcome a club with such a beautiful history and such a passionate fan base into our global family,” City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano said in the club’s statement.
It continued: “Bahia’s footballing legacy and its community roots are an incredible foundation for us to build something great together. We now set out on a journey to help Bahia reach its full potential while staying true to its people, its heritage and the energy that has blessed this land and made Brazilian football one of the most exciting in the world.” The Holding will “contribute all her experience, knowledge, technology and passion”.
