Bayern Munich | Ex-Star takes Kahn and Salihamidzic to task

On Sunday, FC Bayern regained the lead in the Bundesliga from BVB with a lackluster 2-0 win over bottom Hertha BSC. Nevertheless, there is still great unrest in Munich. Ex-professional Michael Ballack is therefore demanding quick improvements from the executive floor around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic.

Bayern fans had to wait a long time before Serge Gnabry finally redeemed them in a duel with basement child Hertha BSC. Only after 69 minutes did the national player break the spell with his diving header.

Now the record champions are back at the top, with the title defense back in their own hands. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do on Säbener Straße after the last few weeks of chaos, especially board boss Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic have been caught in the crossfire in the past few days.

Former Bayern star Michael Ballack also sees the leadership team as responsible. “Since the Rummenigge/Hoeneß duo, we have known what was a dream duo for many years – it’s not that easy to replace. Now there’s a situation where Oli and Hasan are in demand and the character is in demand. Despite all the alignment and the ideas, how they want to align the club,” explained the 46-year-old on “DAZN”.

Kahn and Salihamidzic would have to “show this day-to-day business and personality now,” Ballack demanded, adding: “They still have room for improvement there.”

Some positions at Bayern “not at Champions League level”

The TV expert still sees one or the other construction site in the squad of the German industry leader. “It has to be said that a few positions in the team are not vacant, but not filled at Champions League level,” Ballack pointed out.

The anger about Captain Manuel Neuer’s serious ski injury also left its mark. “The club can’t do anything about that. But you can see what can come of it. That extends to the management floor. That’s where the decisions are made,” he clarified.
