mWhile sustainability in the fashion field is an increasingly discussed topic, ideas are flooding in to be, in one’s own small way, attentive to the environment – starting right from the wardrobe. Invest in a few quality pieces and/or sustainable brands, focus on vintage rather than on the low cost purchase of the last hour; and, of course, the very difficult art of “recycling” clothes that you already own. How to do? Stars are masters of this, and they prove it even today, by continuing to reuse their winning outfits.
Not just royals like Kate Middleton. Among the latest champions of reuse, the return to the green track of Cate Blanchett. But also the new recruits, such as the daughter of Salma Hayek, Valentina, which borrows one of the mother’s unforgettable looks. How to follow their sustainable example? Here are the must-haves of celebs to copy and wear over and over again in 2023.
The tailored blazer, Cate Blanchett’s 2023 recycling
Cate Blanchett is undoubtedly one of the stars most attentive to recycling in the fashion sector. Among her latest evidence, the tailored blazer short-sleeved double-breasted Alexandre Vauthier: a Fall-Winter 2022/2023 Haute Couture piece, which she initially wore to a screening of TÁR last October in Los Angeles, then dusted it off in March 2023. On the occasion of the Time Gala, the actress has reused the jacket with slim trousers instead of the original flared ones of the suit and removing the turtleneck: an idea to transform a winter must-have into a spring piece.
And yes, there too necklace it is a fashion recycling: the same string of custom pearls Louis Vuitton appeared around her neck, embellishing her shoulders, ai bafta of February 2023.
The long red dress, “stolen” from mother Salma
“Can you lend me your dress?” Next time we’re asked a question like this, let’s remember to Salma Hayek. The actress has in fact lent to her daughter Valentinafor the red carpet of the Oscars 2023, its mind blowing long red bustier dressworn way back in 1997. To recycle the king of Hollywood clothes and look good next to her mother, Valentina opted for a bag and necklace update: the fifteen-year-old matched the designer long dress Isaac Mizrahi with a thin string of pearls instead of the nineties crystal choker, and replaced the red crystal mini bag with a Jackie 1969 Of Gucci state-of-the-art metal.
Result: an outfit with a retro flavour, but more current than ever.
The black belted dress, Monica Bellucci’s favourite
If there is a dress that Monica Bellucci seems to love more than any other, it is the long odalisque model dress, with veiled transparencies, designer Dior. An essential and classic piece, from the Resort 2020, to be treasured. Worn for the first time for the film premiere Chemical Weapons/Spider in the Web to the Ostend Film Festivalon September 7, 2019, the star wore it again at the Maison’s Spring-Summer 2022 show in Paris, just a few weeks later.
A piece that works as it is, thanks to the detail of the waist belt, so much so that the only variation is the shoes, very high platform sandals for the event, declined in a pair of cuissardes boots for the fashion show. Our suggestion is to try it with a couple of modern ones Mary Jane also in 2023: it’s just a shame that a dress like this is lying in the closet…
