Teen threatened with firearm, officers draw gun when arrested

A 17-year-old boy was threatened with a firearm in Roosendaal on Sunday. A 15-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man from Middelburg were arrested later that evening on the A58 near Kruiningen. Officers drew their weapons.

The victim told police that he had an argument with a fellow townsman. This escalated on Sunday evening in the Burgemeester Schneiderlaan in Roosendaal. Two men approached and threatened him with a firearm. He also received several blows to the head.

Warning shots
Not much later, officers saw three people walking in Strausslaan, one of whom matched the description of one of the suspects. When the officers wanted to check on the three, they fled. The officers then fired several warning shots.

They were then able to arrest two of these three people. Upon further investigation, they turned out not to be involved in the threat to 17-year-old Roosendaler. They were then released.

Drawn weapons
The two suspected perpetrators turned out to have fled in a car whose owner lives in Middelburg in Zeeland. Officers saw this car driving a little later near Rilland, on the A58 towards Zeeland.

The driver was then given a stop sign. When he pulled over his car, the officers drew their guns and demanded that the two people, aged 15 and 20, get out of the car. Indeed, what appears to be a firearm was found in the car.
