The Weeknd shared a snippet of a new play on Instagram. This is expected to be the soundtrack to the HBO series The Idol.
The Weeknd has announced a new music project. Dubbed THE IDOL VOL.1, it is expected to accompany the HBO series The Idol, which The Weeknd co-produced. Abel Tesfaye, the real name of The Weeknd, shared a post on Instagram last Wednesday (April 13) in which he teased a film-like piece. “THE IDOL VOL.1 – coming soon,” the “Blinding Lights” singer wrote.
The “HBO” series “The Idol” does not yet have an official release date, but should – how “Naver” first reported – to premiere in June 2023. It therefore seems logical that the associated soundtrack will also be released in summer 2023. The series is said to be about an aspiring pop star named “Jocelyn,” played by Lily-Rose Depp, who suffers a nervous breakdown and has to cancel her tour as a result. In desperation, she turns to a self-help guru named “Tedros,” who Tesfaye will play.
The Weeknd has been providing a glimpse of unreleased music projects lately. Among other things, a collaboration with rap star Future and a cover of John Legend’s “Jealous Guy” are planned. In addition, rumors are currently circulating the Internet that the Canadian R’n’B singer could appear at this year’s Coachella festival – as a surprise guest. Fans can look forward to performances by Frank Ocean, Bad Bunny, Rosalía and many more at the 2023 Coachella festival – alongside possibly The Weeknd.
