While 500 Sandhäuser were welcomed to the away game in KA, 5000 made their way to Sandhausen (and it would probably have been even more if the club hadn’t stopped the sale to Karlsruher).
Where are the fans supposed to come from? Sandhausen has fewer inhabitants than the southern part of Karlsruhe and about half as many as Durlach. ASV Durlach is the leader of the Landesliga Mittelbaden.
Just the fact of having professional football in Sandhausen is actually a sensation.
What about the big city only 8km away, where the best football club plays sixth-rate? Or is everyone in the university town only interested in basketball?
I never understood that you couldn’t get more fans from Heidelberg.
Heidelberg is simply not a soccer city, no idea why, but the “university city” is certainly a reason. With almost 100k inhabitants, Tübingen also has no club above the 6th (?) league.
As far as event fans are concerned, a lot has migrated from the region to Sinsheim, including from Karlsruhe. With second division football in a dilapidated stadium, it’s hard to get people excited.

I definitely see parallels between Sandhausen and my FSV. Both have survived for years with a budget in a league that is a few notches too high in terms of environment and finances, and for both this season has probably come to an end in these leagues. The change of coach effect also failed for us, but that was to be expected given the weak squad.
One can only hope for Sandhausen that Union Solingen will not be gone. A club that played 14 years in a row in the second division and actually disappeared from football after being relegated to the second division.
In terms of spectator numbers, we have an incredibly difficult time against the many competitors in the immediate vicinity: not only football, other sports are also in competition there, as is the rather meager youth work: the talents of the region go to Hoffenheim or to the KSC, even Walldorf is tempting Apprenticeships at SAP, but none of that is the cause of the misery, we’ve been in league 2 for too long. The reason is simply an incredibly amateurish and completely aloof management: for a few years now, players have been stepping in Hand, who have far exceeded their peak and only live from the name, scouting doesn’t exist… We used to graze the talents in leagues 3 and 4 and did well with them, meanwhile there are only former Bundesliga players Resterampe. The squad would be good enough to keep the class, but team spirit and commitment doesn’t seem to exist for our star players, plus a conservative coach who only knows one system or a coach who doesn’t convey much apart from motivation and hey presto there’s relegation , who shouldn’t have been… The bad thing: those responsible don’t learn from their mistakes (there’s already a full-bodied call for immediate re-emergence) and that’s how it will go down… Too bad, I liked the calm thing about the SVS, the Opportunity to be able to watch football in a relaxed manner and largely without anti-social football and the approach of squandering it in professional football without tax money (greetings to Karlsruhe, Lautern and Freiburg)… All of this failed due to the megalomania of those responsible, but maybe it had to anyway fail…
