With just one point from their last seven games, Leicester City are the weakest team in Europe’s top five leagues. Brendan Rodgers had to resign last Sunday, the search for a successor is ongoing. According to the English portal “The Athletic” the “Foxes” are in talks with former Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch.
Update 3:19 p.m.:A little later on Saturday “Telegraph” and fleshed out the Athletic report. An agreement is imminent, and Marsch’s signature at Leicester City is expected within the next 24 hours.
The 49-year-old has been without a club since February after being sacked after a year at league rivals Leeds United. Previously, he worked in Leipzig until December 2021, where he was only able to stay for half a year. Leicester would be Marsch’s fourth stop in charge in less than two years.

According to the report, the 2016 champions have met with several candidates in the past few days and are eyeing different models. In a successful game against direct rivals AFC Bournemouth (18th vs. 19th; to the table) on Saturday, interim duo Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler could not be ruled out, but a new coach is in principle being considered. Adi Hütter was last named as a candidate, and according to “Athletic” Rafael Benítez and Sam Allardyce are options – but only temporarily until the end of the season. Graham Potter, who was sacked at Chelsea, is said to have withdrawn.
Marsch, on the other hand, would retain the long-term confidence that he would be trusted to lead the reconstruction. A possible relegation of Leicester would not change that, the American had already declared his willingness to go to the championship with the club. The gap to the saving bank is currently two points.
