According to a media report, the former German world champions Jürgen Klinsmann, Philipp Lahm and Rudi Völler belong to a newly founded advisory board of the European Football Union (UEFA). Like the English newspaperTheTimes“Wrote on Good Friday, the 20-strong committee, consisting of other ex-professionals and coaches, should advise the European association on questions relating to the rules of the game, refereeing or the appointment calendar.

The committee, supported by UEFA chief referee Roberto Rosetti, could also provide advice on other central football issues such as video evidence, youth football or UEFA competitions. The new UEFA advisory board, which the association’s executive committee is said to have approved last week, will hold its first meeting at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon next week, according to the Times, and meet at least once a year. A similar body should therefore also be established for the interests of women’s football.

In addition to Klinsmann, Lahm and Völler, the committee will include coaches Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), Gareth Southgate (England) and José Mourinho (AS Roma) as well as other greats of world football such as Zinédine Zidane and Paolo Maldini.
