Two more train collision victims in IC; train traffic between The Hague and Leiden will be blocked for longer

Two seriously injured victims of the train collision near Voorschoten are still in intensive care. This was reported by the ANP news agency on Thursday. Three people were initially taken to the IC in The Hague, one of whom has now been transferred to the nursing ward. Three out of five people admitted to UMC Utrecht are also allowed to go home.

The trains between The Hague and Leiden, the route on which the NS train derailed in the night from Monday to Tuesday, are running according to ProRail certainly not until April 18. That is a week longer than previously known. It plays a role in this that the salvage of the derailed train is delayed. “We cannot yet guarantee that we can safely store the train,” says a spokesman for the railway manager NRC.

Only when the broken train is gone can the repair of the track begin. “The damage to the overhead line, the track and the adjacent Voorschoten station is extensive,” writes ProRail, which, together with the municipality and water company Dunea, is looking at when the repair work can start.
