Unboxing of the new album “72 Seasons”

Metallica have posted videos by and with James Hetfield on Twitter, in which the lead singer unpacks the forthcoming album 72 Seasons (out April 14) on vinyl, CD and cassette. The length of the tracks as printed on the CD was also revealed in the unboxing video.

The first clip was posted to Twitter with the caption: “Check this out. It appears a crate of vinyl fell off a truck and somehow made its way to HQ and into the tattooed hands of James Hetfield!”

In the first video, the lead singer cuts the foil of the double LP vinyl edition album box to reveal the record’s elaborate packaging. The gatefold sleeve has a stamped ‘7’ on the left side and a stamped ‘2’ on the right side, and the inner sleeves feature black and white portraits of the band members.

Next up is the CD version. On the front of the CD you can get a glimpse of the length of the album’s tracks: the record is 77 minutes long, and the closing track “Inamorata” promises to be the longest of the album’s 12 songs at 11 minutes and 10 seconds.

Finally, Hetfield unwraps the cassette’s packaging, revealing the glossy black tape and an accordion-style, multi-page J-Card.
