Tchibo creates new dual leadership for corporate responsibility

Tchibo has filled two new positions dealing with corporate responsibility.

Tchibo announced at the end of March that Johanna von Stechow and Pablo von Waldenfels have been directors responsible for corporate responsibility (CR) since the beginning of the year. Both come from within their own ranks. Von Stechow has been with the Hamburg retail group for 16 years and has previously worked in the company as ‘Director Corporate Development’ and ‘Head of Environmental Protection’. Von Waldenfels has only been with Tchibo for two years and joined as ‘Head of Sustainable Coffee’.

“The opportunity to combine an exciting management position with the family and at the same time to tackle complex management tasks better as a couple is perfect. That’s why we don’t ‘split’ the job, but ‘share’ it to a large extent,” says the mother of four sons. “We complement each other in terms of know-how and characters. Together we want to further advance our sustainable business model.”

“Our greatest challenge and at the same time our greatest opportunity is to make sustainability an integral part of all business decisions,” says Von Waldenfels. “Both strategically and operationally, for example when purchasing products or selecting suppliers.”

Previously, Nanda Bergstein was responsible for the area. After 14 years with the company, the retailer then announced their departure last May. She most recently served as Director of Corporate Responsibility.
