There are many people with an iPhone who have never held a Samsung Galaxy in their hands. Samsung’s Try Galaxy web app aims to change that. The small program turns the iPhone into a Galaxy S23 at the push of a button.
Samsung has set up a website with which you can try out how a Galaxy smartphone works on the iPhone. No app is required for this. Instead, interested parties only have to store the page on the iPhone’s home screen. You can then open the interface and use the iPhone like a Samsung Galaxy.
What can Samsung’s “Try Galaxy” do for the iPhone?
If you open “Try Galaxy”, you first get to the home screen, which looks like on a Galaxy S23. Various apps such as telephone, SMS, camera and settings can be found there. But there is also a weather widget and access to the Galaxy Store, themes and more.
The camera app can be opened in the Galaxy S23 interface. Apart from a few videos that explain the individual camera functions, there is unfortunately nothing interesting to discover. In earlier versions of the web app, photos and videos could actually be taken, but these were not saved on the iPhone.
However, themes from the Galaxy Themes app can be activated. This is of course a small affront to Apple, which allows no personalization of the iOS interface apart from light and dark. Lots of fun details
Of course, not all functions are fully developed. Many areas like the settings, app folders and the Galaxy Store are just a facade. If you click on it, small pop-ups appear that explain what is behind the functions.
At least Samsung has put a lot of effort into the details. For example, if you open the gallery and try to delete an image, only the message “You don’t like the image?” appears. is noted”.
Even in the settings, Samsung doesn’t do it that seriously. If you click on a menu item such as “Connections”, a pop-up appears with the note: “There shouldn’t be any big surprises here. In the settings you can find and adjust all your, um, settings.” Samsung also had fun with the news page, which can be reached by swiping to the right on the home screen. The site is modeled after Google Discover and hides news articles like “Woman discovers Samsung themes and changes everything.”
When using Try Galaxy, brief SMS notifications and an occasional phone call keep appearing. It provides information about the functions of Galaxy smartphones, after all it is a PR campaign.

No installation required
“Try Galaxy” is a so-called “Progressive Web App”, PWA for short, which does not require any installation, but only runs in a browser window. The app can be found at https://trygalaxy.com. Simply scan the barcode shown there with your iPhone and place the page on the home screen, and the app will appear.
Try Galaxy is the successor to iTest, a web app that worked in a similar way. However, the newer version shows on the iPhone what a current Samsung smartphone looks like – such as a Galaxy S23, Z Fold 4 or Z Flip 4. In addition, the new web app is available in 14 languages, previously the display was limited to English.
