Simone Büch (54) loves the Royals. You can see that in her apartment. BZ visited the lady from Mariendorf and talked about her special encounter with Charles.

There is a picture of the Queen on the desk, the shelves are filled with souvenirs from England and a cloth from King Charles adorns the table – even in the wardrobe there is only room for British brands. Simone Büch (54) loves and lives in Great Britain and the royal family.

She was the first to welcome the royal couple when they arrived at BER last Wednesday. With the British national flag, the so-called Union Jack, she stood on the side of the road in Schönefeld and cheered on Charles and Camilla. There was a smile and a short wave from His Majesty for her alone. “It was just awesome,” she says.

But her big moment followed a day later at the market on Wittenbergplatz. Here, too, Simone wanted to be very close to the king and was doubly lucky. Charles shook her hand twice and asked how she was doing.

“I practiced the Knicks a thousand times and then I was so excited that I just answered ‘ok’,” says the Berliner. Then the king continues chatting at a cheese stand. “I said I think he’s amazing,” she says.

A great wish of the trained educator has thus come true. But she keeps dreaming. Soon she wants to travel to the UK to visit the Queen’s tomb.

“I mourned for days when she passed,” she says emotionally. Until then, she enjoys the British flair with an English tea in her home in Mariendorf.
