“The Tuchel effect brings BVB down”

The Bundesliga summit is casting its shadow: On Saturday (6:30 p.m.) FC Bayern will meet Borussia Dortmund. The German record champions or BVB – who wins the cracker? Two editors, two opinions.

That’s why FC Bayern wins the duel against BVB:

Sure, FC Bayern has already lost ten points against BVB this year. The momentum is clearly on the side of the guests – or at least it was until last Friday.

Then a coaching quake shook Säbener Straße – and in my opinion also reversed the signs for the top game.

Regardless of how you feel about Julian Nagelsmann’s work at FC Bayern and his dismissal: New brooms often sweep well in the football business. And the people of Munich have bought a really good new broom in Thomas Tuchel, to stay with the picture.

The fact that the former BVB coach played his first game on the FC Bayern sidelines against his former club is of course a great story – for us observers, but also for the record champions.

Actually, the one point deficit in the table should be motivation enough for the Bayern pros. Tuchel should tease out the last one or two percent of motivation before this game, which is also very special for him. Purely in terms of sporting potential, the current hunter is superior to the hunted anyway.

My prognosis therefore: There will be a (probably even significant) home win. The Tuchel effect brings BVB down – and FC Bayern back to the top of the table.

That’s why BVB wins the duel against FC Bayern:

Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern have a big problem: time. Just 13 players were available to Nagelsmann’s successor at his first training session on Tuesday on Säbener Straße – including several young hopefuls.

A large part of the Bayern starting XI, however, was still on an international trip until the middle of the week. Thus, Tuchel has not had the chance to study new automatisms. Miracles are not to be expected in the first game under the new head coach.

In addition, FC Bayern is dealing with a “new BVB”. The annoying mentality debate has been a thing of the past at Borussia Dortmund since this year at the latest. Instead, head coach Edin Terzic’s team has shown time and again in recent weeks that they can fight against resistance.

The black and yellow have long since developed a new self-image. “We’re going there to win,” Emre Can made the appropriate announcement before the summit at FC Bayern.

In contrast to previous years, Borussia Dortmund also travels to Munich with a solid defense. A BVB success with the record champions would therefore not be a surprise, but the logical consequence.
