At the proposal of Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved four nominations for ambassadors. These are not final until the host countries have given their approval. The appointments will take effect next summer.

The Council of Ministers approved the appointment as Ambassador to the following posts:

  • Bangladesh, based in Dhaka: Irma van Dueren, currently ambassador in Khartoum
  • Burundi, based in Bujumbura: Lianne Houben, now Deputy Ambassador to Islamabad
  • Sudan, based in Khartoum: Wierish Ramsoekh, now Deputy Ambassador Cairo
  • Switzerland, based in Bern: Karin Mössenlechner, now Director of the Asia and Oceania Department (DAO)
