Abuse allegations against Emily Ratajkowski’s ex-husband

Emily Ratajkowski’s ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard produced the films “Uncut Gems” (2019) and “Good Time” (2017), among others. While working on both strips, he is said to be, a report published on Wednesday (March 29) by “Variety” alleged to have behaved inappropriately and abusively.

The accusations

Several women have made allegations against him. Among them is a 24-year-old who he wrote to on Instagram in 2016 when she was 17 and who, without her knowledge of the content, is said to have recruited her for a later cut nude scene in “Good Time”.

After production, both are said to have entered into a consensual sexual relationship. For the performance, he lured her with an unfulfilled promise to stand by Robert Pattinson’s side and failed to explain in detail beforehand that she would be naked while 10 to 12 male crew members stood around her. During the shoot itself, an unnamed male counterpart in the scene claims to have sexually harassed her.

Furthermore, Bear-McClard, who was still married at the time, is said to have had an affair with a then 18-year-old during the filming of “Uncut Gems”, including a promise to advance her film career. During one of their meetings, a non-consensual sexual assault occurred. In addition, according to the report, Bear-McClard had started to approach a 15-year-old again via Instagram at this time. She then visited him on the set several times.

The incidents and their implications are said to have become known to the directors of both films, the Safdie brothers, with whom the 42-year-old co-founded the production company Elara, in mid-2022. Bear-McClard was then pulled off. The studio involved, A24, has also come under criticism as a result of the developments. The incident in the “Good Time” case in particular points to poor business practices. The 24-year-old received neither royalties nor was she paid for her performance. It is also unusual for amateur actresses to be specifically recruited by the producer via Instagram.

Ratajkowski, who is currently fighting for custody of her son with Bear-McClard, has not commented on the allegations. Both were married between February 2018 and September 2022. Their son was born in 2021.
