Lucinda Brand also reigns in cyclocross Gavere and wins Superprestige
2:43 pm Lucinda Brand has won the final classification in the Superprestige cyclo-cross for the second year in a row. The European champion also won the last cross in the series in Gavere, Belgium. She already registered her nineteenth victory of the season.
Brand was unapproachable in the Superprestige this year; she won six of the seven cyclocross races and usually with a great display of power. Also in the final cross in Gavere she was unable to keep up with her competitors. She distanced herself early in the race and gradually built up her lead. Annemarie Worst crossed the finish line in 35 seconds. Denise Betsema finished third and made it a fully Dutch podium.
Betsema and Worst had the same number of points in the final standings, but because Betsema won the cross in Ruddervoorde this winter, she finished second in the Superprestige classification.
Barcelona expects Depay back next week after relapse
1.50 pm: FC Barcelona coach Xavi hopes to have Memphis Depay again next week. The Dutch attacker has barely played in the past two months due to a hamstring injury. “Memphis has had a small setback, so it will take a little longer before it connects again,” Xavi said to fellow townsman Espanyol a day before the derby.
Depay was left with a hamstring injury after losing to Bayern Munich (3-0) in the Champions League at the beginning of December. The striker made his comeback at the beginning of January, but after two substitutions he suffered again. Since then, the former PSV player has been missing from Xavi’s selection.
With eight goals in 16 games, Depay is Barcelona’s top scorer in the Spanish football league. The Catalans are in fourth place. Barcelona will receive Napoli in the first knockout round of the Europa League next week.
Anthon Charmig takes the lead in Oman with victory
12:56 pm Danish cyclist Anthon Charmig has won the third stage in the Tour of Oman, a stage that ended with a climb of 2.8 kilometers. The 23-year-old Charmig overtook the Czech Jan Hirt who had jumped away in the last hundreds of meters and, in addition to the stage victory, also took the lead in the general classification.
The Dane from the procontinental team Uno-X took over the red leader’s jersey from British sprinter Mark Cavendish, who had won the second stage on Friday and finished second in the first stage on Thursday. The third stage covered 180 kilometers. On the way to the final climb in Qurayyat, the riders had to cross the necessary mountains. The Tour of Oman ends on Tuesday.
Olympic cycling champion Richard Carapaz tests positive for corona
12.35 pm: Cyclist Richard Carapaz had to leave the Tour of Provence due to a positive corona test. The Tokyo Olympic champion will not appear at the start of the second stage, according to his team Ineos Grenadiers. His Italian teammate Filippo Ganna is in the lead in the general classification. Liverpool have Sadio Mane back after African Cup win
12.10 pm: Africa Cup winner Sadio Mane is back at Liverpool. The attacker gave Senegal the title last Sunday, by shooting the decisive penalty in the final against Egypt. Mané (29) then also got some time from Liverpool to experience the festivities in Senegal.
The wing striker, who has already scored eight goals in the Premier League this season, resumed training at his club on Friday. According to manager Jürgen Klopp, his pupil can participate in Sunday’s league match against Burnley. “Emotionally, he’s probably still floating,” said the German. “We have to see how Sadio is physically.”
Mohamed Salah, who lost to his club mate with Egypt in the final of the African Championship via penalties, already made his comeback on Thursday in the 2-0 win against Leicester City. The club’s top scorer (sixteen goals) participated in the last half hour. Liverpool are number 2 in the Premier League, 11 points behind Manchester City. The reds still have a match.
New national coach for French track cyclists
11.15 am: Former French track cyclist Grégory Baugé will be head coach of France’s national sprint team. Baugé (37) must prepare the sprinters as best as possible for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Baugé himself became world champion nine times and won four medals at the Olympic Games.
“After driving for the French team for more than ten years, I am now extremely proud to be the head coach of the national sprint team,” said Baugé. “With my energy and experience I want to help track cyclists to perform.” The World Track Cycling World Championships will take place near Paris in October.

Philadelphia 76ers win NBA without asset James Harden
The Philadelphia basketball players have recorded their 33rd win of this NBA season, without their acquisition James Harden. Led by Joel Embiid, the sixers 100-87 too strong for Oklahoma City Thunder. The 27-year-old basketball player from Cameroon combined 25 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.
The 76ers struck a sizable deal with the Brooklyn Nets this week. The Sixers sent Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond and Seth Curry to New York, among others, and got Harden and Paul Millsap in return. The acquisitions were not available for use on Friday.
The Chicago Bulls also won, DeMar DeRozan led his team with 35 points to a victory over Minnesota Timberwolves (134-122). Nikola Jokic signed a so-called triple-double at Denver Nuggets with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists, but the Serb was unable to prevent a defeat against the Boston Celtics (108-102).
