Duran Duran’s John Taylor announced at an event in Beverly Hills last Thursday (March 16) that the band is currently producing a new album. He explained that Andy Taylor was also involved in this process. The bassist of the new wave group actually left the formation in 2006. Additionally, his peers announced during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year that Taylor has prostate cancer. At that time, the musicians said that the chances of treatment would be infinitesimally small.

The work on the project, which is due to be released at the end of this year, will probably also take place on Ibiza, the adopted home of the 62-year-old guitarist. At least front singer Simon Le Bon plans to work there together with Taylor. Other parts are to be produced in London and Los Angeles.

The new record is also a result of the diagnosis. “There will be a lot of cover songs, songs that meant something to us as kids. So it’s great to have him on board,” said bassist John Taylor.

The group’s last long-player to feature Taylor as a guitarist was 2004’s Astronaut. Duran Duran released their current studio album “Future Past” in 2021.
