The transformation of the 1970s cottage is today one of the objects of remembrance, when renovation coordinator Vilja Schepel and interior architect Mikko Vesanen return for the eighth season of their series and into 2015. In the villa & in Huuss Teresa’s and Sepon the cabin’s kitchen and bedroom changed places because of the views.
However, the former sleeping area was slightly too narrow to accommodate the necessary cupboards. According to the renovators, Mikko had a questionable solution to the situation.
– I moved the wall ten centimeters, Mikko recalls his drawings.
– I didn’t agree with you then. I thought you were crazy about the wall, Vilja confesses now.
There was already some discussion during filming.
– I thought you were crazy, really. It felt a bit like he was just rambling now, Vilja remembers his disbelief.
Anni wants to know how angry they were backstage. It wasn’t exactly a pleasant atmosphere. Four
Anni Ihamäki, who hosts the show, asks if the workers were really angry backstage.
– Was it really a crisis situation? he directs his question to Vilja, who answers honestly:
– It was hard to understand. Ten cents seemed so silly. At that point, we questioned the interior architect’s idea.
However, after seeing the final result, Vilja’s questionings ended like a wall. Now he also definitely thinks that ten cents had a huge meaning.
– For everyone’s information, it was a reasonable move. That was crucial.
