Vandalism with racism at Mementofestival Kortrijk
The glass kiosk, in the center of the city, has been decorated with faces of the members of the collective for Mementofestival. On Thursday, vandals scratched away the face of one of the members with a migration background and a headscarf.

“The city of Kortrijk, the typesetter collective and typesetter/city poet Astrid Haerens condemn this disgusting act and respond to this signal with the answer that there must be zero tolerance towards racism in this city and everywhere,” says the city.
Axel Ronse, alderman for culture in Kortrijk: “I completely condemn this cowardly act of racism and vandalism. The sticker has since been removed and replaced with an anti-racist message.
“Out of respect for the person involved, we do not release the photos of the vandalism for publication,” the city concludes.
