“That is something that we have to discover, that we should talk about,” continues Lamers, who has been in a relationship for a year and a half. “Those are great conversations.” Now that she ‘gets older’ and friends around her are pregnant, she feels ‘very lucky for them’. “But I also feel a certain sadness sometimes. That I think: Oh, I want to experience it so badly too.”
“It’s just a shame that I don’t experience it in that way,” says the model who was the first transgender woman ever Holland’s Next Top Model won in 2015. ,,The baby in my stomach, which comes from me, that is just not possible.”
According to her, the fact that she cannot have children of her own does not mean that she cannot see a possible baby as her own family. “One of my best friends gave birth two years ago. That baby feels so special. (…) That little one, it’s in the background of my phone. It doesn’t feel like my kid, but it really feels like my niece. While it belongs to my best friend.”
