No smoking for children under 13

It is requested to ban the sale of tobacco products between now and 2028 (traditional cigarettes and heated tobacco devices) and nicotine-based (electronic cigarettes) to those aged 13 or younger today and to all future generations.

Added to this is the creation of a European network of smoke-free beaches and national parks. And to extend the smoking ban to outdoor places, especially if frequented by children: outdoor areas of restaurants, playgrounds, schools, swimming pools, sports centres, near hospitals, public transport stops. We ask to eliminate the advertising of tobacco products, including the hidden one conveyed on social networks.

«Smoke also harms those who breathe it passively, causes about 85 percent of all cases of lung cancer and other types of cancer. It is also the major risk factor for chronic pulmonary disease obstructive diseases and one of the most important for cardiovascular diseases» remembers Silvano Gallus, head of the laboratory of epidemiology of lifestyles of the Mario Negri Institute.
