For the first time in almost two years, VfL Wolfsburg has to play in the Bundesliga without its captain Maximilian Arnold.
The 28-year-old midfielder will miss Sunday’s home game against 1. FC Union Berlin after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season. “It’s a loss. But I do believe that we can and will compensate for this loss,” said coach Niko Kovac. “That’s why I’m not worried at all.”
Most recently, Arnold missed the home game against FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on April 17, 2021. This Sunday, former captain Josuha Guilavogui and Felix Nmecha are the most likely substitutes.
