According to a media report, Premier League clubs are in for another windfall. As the AP news agency reported, the clubs were informed about a planned significant increase in media revenues.
Accordingly, the international sale of media rights for the coming three-year cycle should bring in the equivalent of 6.29 billion euros, which would mean an increase of almost 1.5 billion euros. The international revenues would exceed those from the national rights sale (6.05 billion) for the first time. After this season, total revenues from rights sales and sponsorship for a three-year cycle are expected to amount to 12.46 billion euros.
According to the AP, this would mean that the English champions in 2023 would receive €208.84 million from this pot instead of €181.55 million. The German Football League currently distributes an average of 1.1 billion euros per season from the sale of national media rights, while the proceeds from the sale of international rights are significantly lower.
