Club Brugge: Exit coach Scott Parker

Club Brugge does what has been in the air for a while: it has fired its trainer Scott Parker (42). He has to leave the field after barely two months. Parker had to get Club Brugge out of the doldrums after Carl Hoefkens, but was never able to turn the tide. It was no longer possible in Europe, but certainly not in the competition. The national champion is still fighting for a place in the top 4, and suffered a painful 3-0 loss against KV Oostende last week, then the penultimate in the standings.

The disgrace at Benfica was the latest achievement of Parker, who has barely won two of his twelve games since the beginning of this year. Club has meanwhile been eliminated in the cup, logically also in the Champions League, and now has to hurry to reach play-off 1. Blauw-zwart is worse off than after the dismissal of Carl Hoefkens. Assistant Rik De Mil will take over the duties for the time being. Who knows, Alfred Schreuder will return to Jan Breydel. Club became champion with the Dutchman last year.
