THE Macchiaioli and the invention of Plein air between France and Italy investigates the history of the artistic movement that radically renewed Italian painting from the mid-nineteenth century onwards, because it is “very close to the gaze of those who were the protagonists of this revolution”.
Suggestive exhibition that studies the spirit of rebellion of these artistsie the technical innovations introduced with the choice to paint “outdoors”.
The itinerary offers 90 works and opens with a section dedicated to “real life painting” starting from symbolic artists such as Camille Corot, François Daubigny, Théodore Rousseau,
“Cattle in the cart” (1868) by Giovanni Fattori.
The exhibition continues coming alive with the works of Telemaco Signorini, Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega, Raffaello Sernesi.
