Last week, Borussia Dortmund caused a sensation with the announcement that they would part with Mahmoud Dahoud in the summer. The still BVB professional does not have to fear for his future. The list of interested clubs seems to be getting longer and longer.
As the “transfermarkt.de” portal writes, citing Turkish media reports, the Istanbul top club Fenerbahce is said to have considered the 27-year-old.
The 19-time Turkish champion is probably not the only club in the draw. “Sport1” recently reported that AC Milan, Sevilla FC, SSC Napoli and Leicester City had already expressed interest.
The portal “90min” also brought up a possible return to Dahoud’s former club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
According to “transfermarkt.de”, however, there have been no concrete talks with any club so far. Likewise, Dahoud has no tendency with regard to his future.
Mahmoud Dahoud came to BVB from Gladbach in 2017
He had recently assured “Sport1” that he would continue to give full attention to BVB despite the upcoming separation. He wanted to put the topic of looking for a club aside. “But my team takes care of that. I’m a footballer. That’s my focus. Everything that comes in summer comes in summer,” said Dahoud. Nevertheless, he is looking forward to “a new challenge”, the two-time international made it clear.
Dahoud switched from Gladbach to BVB in the summer of 2017 for around twelve million euros. He only managed to become a regular there in phases.
BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl confirmed to “Bild” last week that the legal footer will not receive a new contract in the summer.
“Mo has been with us for six years now, he is a very good footballer and I really have a very high opinion of him in terms of sport and personality. Nevertheless, we decided to take this step,” explained Michael Zorc’s successor.
