Following surgery on his right shoulder, Slovenian pro cyclist Primoz Roglic will make his comeback in the saddle in Monday’s week-long Italian stage race Tirreno-Adriatico.
This was announced by the 33-year-old Dutch racing team Jumbo-Visma on Friday. The return of the Olympic time trial champion and three-time Vuelta champion was originally planned for a later date.
“He worked hard and is ready,” said sports director Merijn Zeeman about Roglic, who is scheduled for the Giro d’Italia instead of the Tour de France this year: “He will start without pressure and without a specific result. “
Roglic underwent shoulder surgery in October
Roglic underwent surgery in October after dislocating his shoulder multiple times. It was not until the Tour of France in July that the Slovenian dislocated his shoulder after a fall.
The former ski jumper has been involved in numerous falls in recent years, most recently at the Vuelta in September.
There Roglic fell to the ground a few meters before the finish of the 16th stage and had to bury his hopes of the fourth triumph in a row covered in blood.
