Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach started the training week before the game against SC Freiburg without all four professional goalkeepers.

In addition to first-choice goalkeeper Jonas Omlin (strain), coach Daniel Farke also had to do without substitute goalkeepers Jan Olschowsky (thumb injury and gastrointestinal flu), Tobias Sippel (knee hit) and Max Brüll (thigh problems).

The juniors Ben Zich and Tiago Pereira Cardoso took part in the training.

“Of course it’s not an ideal situation when four goalkeepers are out at the same time. But we’re confident that Jan Olschowsky and Tobi Sippel will return by Thursday at the latest,” said Farke.

Even an action by Omlin on Saturday against Freiburg is not entirely out of the question. The Swiss injured himself in the 4-0 loss at FSV Mainz 05 last Friday and had to be replaced by Sippel.
