This is how heroes find their great love for THEIR volunteer work

Volunteering is a bit like dating. Everyone enjoys it, but finding a suitable match is not always easy.

Many people around me tell me regularly that they would like to get involved: “But I just don’t know where,” they say, or: “I don’t have time” and above all: “Where can I find something I like?” As mentioned: everything as in love.

However, the search is a lot easier. Especially in Berlin. Katja Eichhorn mediates for the Berlin charity people to volunteer. You can call her, write her an email, she will find a suitable volunteer job for everyone.

“There are real classics,” she says, “helping in a day care center or in a retirement home or with homework help. These offers are always available and they are generally in high demand. Especially after Corona, commitment is important for many people in which they have direct contact with other people.” She says: “Most of them want to get involved regularly and permanently”.

Volunteers are faithful, which is what most people want in love.

A study by the Berlin Volunteer Platform also found this to be the case Vostel.de result. “It’s often said that young people in particular prefer not to be committed any longer,” says co-founder Hanna Lutz, “but we can’t confirm that. Most are looking for a long-term commitment. That applies to all age groups.”

But even those who don’t want to commit themselves will find opportunities to do good at Vostel. “Right now, among other things, volunteers are being sought who can have their faces painted as injured people for first-aid courses,” she says. Other exciting uses: speaker for a radio play or helper at the seniors’ dance in Lichtenberg.

But even those who like it special will find what they are looking for. The start up “Let act” is currently asking the exact preferences of clubs and volunteers for its mediation app. “This way everyone can really find what they need,” says Shahrzad Malekzadeh. Because: “We are all so different, we should respond to the wishes of the individual.”
