It was the first time that Vahle responded to reports from, among others, Shownieuws that De Mol and Rietbergen had been spotted together again. De Mol broke off her relationship with Rietbergen a year ago after he misconducted the program The Voice had known. He pleaded guilty to sexual harassment, among other things.
“I want my mother to be happy,” said Vahle in VI. “It is her relationship, she makes a choice in that. It makes sense that she would look for something after a year like that.” Vahle speaks of ‘a continuous conflict between being angry and loving someone. I understand that and that’s okay.’
Rietbergen was Vahle’s stepfather for fifteen years. “I am also angry and disappointed and sad,” said Vahle. “But you don’t forget that someone is also a good person. He has also done good things for me and my brother and my mother.”
Vahle strongly denied having an argument with her mother, as some media suggested last week.
