Tubettaja Pinja Sanaksenaho tells in a new documentary what it was like to start vlogging at the age of 11.
The Suomitube series published in Yle Areena tells the story of Finnish vlog culture and the rise of YouTube’s popularity over the past ten years. In the documentary series, more than 30 well-known Finnish vloggers get to speak.
In the third episode of the series, we talk about the downsides of vlogging, which can include exhaustion, a flood of negative feedback and bullying.
Pinja Sanaksenaho, aka Pinkku Pinsku, who started her vlogging career when she was only 11 years old, shares her own unpleasant experiences related to the channel she started as a minor. According to his own words, he even fell into the clutches of pedophiles.
– The stages of my adolescence were commented on a lot on social media. I was a favorite target of pedophiles on all discussion forums.
Video clips and pictures of him were shared online, showing his entire body. Publications were closely edited on discussion forums, and Sanaksenaho also received its share of comments.
– Once someone commented on my video about a sex novel about me and him when I was 13-14 years old.
The comments and discussions gave Sanaksenaho a conflicting feeling about whether it’s worth continuing vlogging. He made videos out of his own interest, but had to think about what he could wear in the video.
– If I’m wearing a top now, will someone take it and use it for something of their own?
