Cross-country skier Hennig strong fifth at the Olympics

Zhangjiakou (dpa) – Cross-country skier Katharina Hennig just missed a medal at the Olympic Winter Games in China.

After a strong race over ten kilometers in the classic technique in Zhangjiakou, the 25-year-old from Oberwiesenthal came fifth. 11.9 seconds separated them from bronze.

Therese Johaug became Olympic champion. At the finish, the 33-year-old Norwegian was just 0.4 seconds ahead of Finland’s Kerttu Niskanen, who won silver. Bronze went to Krista Parmakoski, also from Finland. She was just a tenth of a second faster than fourth-placed Russian Natalia Nepryaeva. Katherine Sauerbrey from Hallenberg convinced in eleventh place.
