As expected, the approaching farewell of the gas manufacturer Linde from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and thus from the DAX helps Commerzbank to return to Germany’s best-known share index. The index provider STOXX, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse, announced the decision expected by experts on Friday evening after Wall Street closed in Zug.
As expected, the vacant place in the index of medium-sized stocks, the MDAX, also goes to the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex. The Deutsche Beteiligungs AG share is given the place by Nordex in the SDAX. The entry of the Italian bank UniCredit into the EURO STOXX 50 for Linde also comes as no surprise to the experts.
Index changes are particularly important for funds that replicate indices in real terms (physically replicating ETFs). There must then be shifted and reweighted accordingly, which can have an impact on share prices.
The index adjustments will take effect on February 27, 2023.
