Peter van der Aart is the new chairman of Baseball Week Haarlem. He succeeds Guus van Dee, who stepped down last autumn. Haarlemmer Van der Aart is currently a board member of the Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB).
Van der Aart has more than earned his stripes in baseball and softball. As chairman of the Schalkwijk DSC’74, the Haarlemmer was involved in organizing tournaments, coached the women’s team and helped with the merger into Olympia Haarlem. In 2014, he chaired the World Softball Championship, which was held in Haarlem.

“With Peter as the new chairman, we think we can bring in the right person at the right time,” says tournament director Léon Ravestein. “With his expertise, passion and knowledge of the event, he can further the organization of the tournament. We want to keep up with the times, Peter can also make a nice contribution to that.”
The Dutch team won the Baseball Week last summer. The next edition will be in the summer of 2024. Then, from July 12 to July 19, Haarlem will again be dominated by baseball.
