Every year music fans, bands and independent record stores celebrate Record Store Day. This year the event falls on April 22nd. As usual, there will be a lot of exclusive and limited releases across all genres in 2023.
For this reason, take a look at ten particularly exciting publications.
Pixies — “Demos” (10″ Purple Colored – RSD Edition)
Pixies fans will get their money’s worth twice this year. “Demos” will be released on 10 inch vinyl in the shade purpleplus “Doolittle-Live In Brussels, 2009” is the entire Brussels show from that year on a double LP including new artwork with UV spot varnish details and printed inner sleeves.
Rolling Stones — Beggar’s Banquet
The album, on which the Stones returned to their blues roots in 1968, will be released as part of the RSD as a special vinyl edition on a colored LP with the color tone “grey, blue, black and white swirl” — an allusion to the lyric “a swirling mass of grey, blue, black and white” from the song “Salt of the Earth”.
Dirty Projectors + Björk — “Mount Wittenberg Orca” (Expanded Ed. Green 2LP RSD)
The joint album by Dirty Projects and Björk, “Mount Wittenberg Orca”, which has long been out of print on vinyl, will be reissued as an expanded edition on double LP for RSD 2023. The re-release contains 13 bonus tracks along with unreleased material.
Paul McCartney “Red Rose Speedway”
For the 50th anniversary of the McCartney/Wings album “Red Rose Speedway”, the album will be released as a special vinyl edition. The album was re-cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios as a Half Speed Master.
Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires — “The Sound Emporium EP”
The ambassadors of the RSD 2023 gifts celebrate the holiday with the “Sound Emporium EP” on vinyl.
Tori Amis — “Little Earthquake’s B-sides and Rarities”
For the first time, the b-sides and rarities surrounding Tori Amos’ solo debut are all on one release. Little Earthquakes B-sides and Rarities will be released on black vinyl.
Black Keys — “Live at Beachland Tavern March”
The Black Keys released a recording of their first performance in 2002 at the Beachland Tavern in Cleveland.
Dolly Parton — “The Monument Singles Collection: 1964-1968”
Country icon Dolly Parton is making a debut: For the first time, all the A and B sides of her 1960 Monument Records singles can be heard on one LP. The new master was created from the original mono tapes — the LP comes in a milky-transparent hue.
“U2: TWO HEARTS BEAT AS ONE / SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY – War & Surrender Mixes”
U2 treat themselves and us to a limited 4-track EP on colored 12-inch vinyl for RSD 2023. You can hear the songs mentioned in the title — both as original recordings and as new versions for the 2023 album “Songs of Surrender”.
Wilco: “Crosseyed Strangers: An Alternate Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”
The alternate takes around the Wilco masterpiece “Hotel Foxtrot”, “Crosseyed Strangers: An Alternate Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” will be available on vinyl for the first time at RSD 2023.
