In 2021, Muhamed Remo attacked a money transporter and was sentenced to a long prison term. He is considered a serious criminal and drug addict. But now he traveled unhindered to Turkey – because there was no free place for him in the correctional facility.
Remo, ex-boxer, father of three, nephew of clan boss Issa Remmo (55) left for Istanbul at the weekend. That reports “Mirror TV“. Accordingly, the police knew nothing of his early release. Although he was still due to serve the majority of his sentence, there was no available therapy space for his cocaine withdrawal in the correctional facility. The health administration led by Ulrike Gote (Greens) is responsible for the accommodation.
Flashback: Disguised as garbage men, masked and equipped with alarm guns, he and three accomplices, who are still unknown to this day, stole 648,500 euros in front of the Volksbank branch on the morning of February 19, 2021. A fifth gangster drove the getaway car.
Remo had only been released from prison two and a half weeks before the crime. The LKA investigators tracked him down through his cocaine addiction: his runny nose left traces – i.e. DNA – on the pullover of a money transporter.
In September 2021, the district court announced the verdict: seven years in prison for aggravated robbery and dangerous bodily harm. However, it ordered placement in a rehabilitation center for up to two years. The report had certified that he had a severe, pathological mental disorder due to drug addiction.
There were also other crimes: the attempted killing of a police officer and the evaluation of a so-called encrochat process; it was a total of ten prison sentences, for which Remo was to go to jail for eight years and three months in December last year.
What still remained: a right to withdrawal treatment in the prison hospital (KMV), the so-called “preliminary execution”. But due to space and staff shortages, the clan nephew obviously could not be assigned a place.

Muhamed Remo should have received therapy since September 2022. Therefore, his lawyer has filed a motion with “immediate transfer” of his client. The problem: The judiciary only has a few weeks to transfer the convict to the prison hospital.
The judiciary is said to have tried by all means to delay the proceedings – in vain. Remo was released from custody in Moabit on Friday and flown to freedom.
