For the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich, the Euroleague playoffs are a long way off after the defeat against Partizan Belgrade.
The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich are in danger of missing the Euroleague playoffs. The 71-82 defeat against Partizan Belgrade meant the third loss in a row for coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team and the next setback in the fight for participation in the knockout stages.
With a record of 9:15 wins with ten games remaining, Munich are 14th in the table and need a real race to catch up to make it into the top eight teams and, like in the past two years, to reach the playoffs.
Partizan dominant in Munich
The in-form guests, who were loudly supported by numerous Partizan supporters in the hall, started better and were ahead 13:5 early on (4th minute). Without top scorer Cassius Winston, the already weakened Bayern needed a few minutes, but then got going. A match developed at eye level, in which Bayern also partially led (26:23/13.). After a 6-0 run, however, the Serbs went into the dressing room with a six-point lead.
After the change of sides, Munich had big problems scoring any points at all. A weak rate from a distance and guests who scored well ensured a clear 45:60 at the end of the third quarter. Bayern couldn’t catch up, Partizan won easily.
Dennis Seeley was the best thrower for Munich with eleven points. Former Bayern center Mathias Lessort (16 points) topped the field in Belgrade.
