Suspicious man arrested in Kortrijk: “No link to kidnap attempt minister”

The public prosecutor’s office announced this around noon.

The arrest happened this morning in the Oudenaardsesteenweg. According to eyewitnesses, dozens of police officers arrived on the scene. They thoroughly searched the car with a Dutch license plate.

Suspicious jerry can & large sum of cash

Police found a yellow jerry can in the trunk of the suspect’s car. What’s in there is currently unknown. Officers also found a large amount of cash in the car.

The man was arrested and taken for questioning. According to eyewitnesses, he behaved very restless and excited.
