British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss flies to Moscow for a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This is the first visit of the head of the diplomatic mission of the Kingdom to Russia in four years.
“Liz Truss is flying to Moscow today to call on the Kremlin to de-escalate and stop its aggression against Ukraine,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
The trip will take two days. Truss plans to discuss the situation around Ukraine with Lavrov.
Russia denies Western intentions to attack Ukraine. And he regards the aggravation of the situation as a reason for NATO to advance towards its borders.
That Russia is not going to attack EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell pointed out to Ukraine. According to him, it is not Ukraine that is important for Russia, but security in Europe.
