A motorist was chased this morning and then severely assaulted in a parking lot at Boerdijk in Veenoord, the Southeast Drenthe police reported on social media.
The victim says that on the A37 between the Holsloot junction and the Veenoord exit on the right, he was overtaken by two cars. After he flashed his lights, one of the cars slowed down and followed him.
In the parking lot of the man’s work in Veenoord, the victim and two occupants of the chasing car get out, after which the man is assaulted by the two on the spot. The perpetrators then run off. The battered man was examined by paramedics in the parking lot. According to police, he was so badly injured that he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The police are still looking for the perpetrators and are asking witnesses or people with more information to come forward. The chase and assault happened between 07:30 and 08:00.
