Man confesses to murder of son-in-law in Stuivekenskerke
In July, the man was arrested on suspicion of shooting his son-in-law with eight bullets in Stuivekenskerke, near Diksmuide. To this day, the man denied everything.
But on three crucial questions during a lie detector test, his answer turned out to be lying. Such a test is not conclusive evidence, by the way, but it did lead to confessions – in consultation with his lawyer.
Reconstruction
“His wife and daughter were threatened when my client was in prison. That kept him from confessing. He tried to release with a substantial bail, but was refused,” says his lawyer.
The fifties would have stated that he regularly had to deliver drugs from his son-in-law. When he wanted to stop, the two quarreled on the towpath along the Yser, after which shots were fired.
It is intended that a reconstruction will follow later.
